Restart

Save your work:
- Before restarting your computer, save any open files to avoid losing progress.
- Then close all programs that you no longer need.

Open the start menu:
- Click on the Windows logo (Start symbol) at the bottom left.
- Alternatively, you can press the Windows key on your keyboard.

Select Restart:
- In the Start menu, click the Power icon (a small icon that looks like a circle with a line through it).
- Select "Restart" from the list.

Wait for the computer to restart:
- The screen goes black and the computer shuts down and then restarts automatically.
- This may take 1-2 minutes depending on your device.
Your screen remains black

Check monitor:
- Check the power cable and the connection cable (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA).
- Test the monitor on another device.

Restart your computer:
- Press and hold the power button and restart.

Check graphics card:
- If you have a desktop PC, reseat the graphics card.
Your computer freezes

Use Task Manager:
- Windows: Ctrl + Alt + Del > Task Manager > End hanging program.
- Mac: Cmd + Option + Esc > Force Quit Program.

Force restart:
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.

Prevent overheating:
- Make sure the fans are clear and clean them with compressed air if necessary.
Your computer won't start

Check connection:
- Make sure the computer is plugged into a power outlet.
- If you have a laptop, check the battery.

Remove external devices:
- Disconnect USB sticks, external hard drives and other external devices.

Force restart:
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.

Perform updates:
- Keep your operating system and programs up to date.
Your computer is getting hot

Check ventilation:
- Clean the ventilation slots with compressed air.

Position the device:
- Place the laptop on a hard, flat surface and use a laptop cooler if necessary.

Reduce background processes:
- Close unnecessary programs in Task Manager.
Your printer is not printing

Check connection:
- Make sure the printer is connected to the computer (USB or Wi-Fi).

Check paper:
- Remove any jammed paper and make sure the paper is loaded correctly.

Clear print queue:
- Windows: Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Select printer > Clear queue.
- Mac: Open Printer Utility and delete jobs
Your sound doesn't work

Check volume:
- Make sure the sound is not muted.

Select audio device:
- Windows: Right-click on the speaker icon > "Sound Settings" > select output device.
- Mac: System Preferences > Sound > Select Output Device.

Update driver:
- Windows: Open Device Manager > Update audio driver.
Your computer is slow

Close programs:
- Open Task Manager: Ctrl + Shift + Esc (Windows) or Activity Monitor (Mac).
- Close programs that require a lot of performance.

Clean up autostart:

Windows:
- Open Task Manager > Startup tab > Disable unnecessary programs.

Mac:
- System Preferences > Users > Login Items > Remove Unnecessary Entries.

Free up storage space:
- Empty the trash.
- Delete large, unnecessary files or programs.

Perform updates:
- Keep your operating system and programs up to date.
Your mouse or keyboard is not working

Check batteries:
- For wireless devices: change batteries.

Check connection:
- Re-insert the USB cable or wireless receiver.
- Re-pair Bluetooth devices.
Your software crashes

Start anew:
- Exit the program and start it again.

Update software:
- Check if updates are available for the program.

New installation:
- Uninstall the program and reinstall it.
Your computer is not responding
- Press and hold the power button on your computer for about 5-10 seconds until the device turns off.
- Wait a few seconds and then press the Power button to turn it back on.
